Michael is a second-year graduate student in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, & Criminal Justice at Clemson University. His work utilizes mixed methodologies to contribute to knowledge in the sociology of higher education, particularly at the social intersections of sexuality, first-generation status, and other minoritized groups. He is currently involved in several projects in addition to WEAVE which include analyses of how Black engineering students choose between an HBCU and a PWI, the COVID-19 pandemic’s effect on graduate admissions pipelines, and parental involvement’s effect on childhood educational and in-school behavioral outcomes.
